[red leaf; "red Sun"; season of leaf "fall"; adam & eve covered themselves with leaves; humans clean themselves, and their "asses" even today with "leaves" when out in the wild; ending of "photosynthesis"; burning leaves; the leaf of this tree, will be for the "curing" of "..."?, and the nations = Bible Book of Revelation (Apocalypse); maple leaf, indicates source of "syrup", first "nicer" sugar, for the europeans, before "sugar cane"...!; the dying off of pines, with the pine beetle; the scarcity of source of main food from "vegetation"...!; hunger and death; devastation by war; etc...; i can not think at this moment of any other reason and meaning, for the use of a "red leaf" in the Canadian Flag, nor of the 3 horizontal rectangles in red and white...!? A GREEN LEAF WOULD AT LEAST INDICATE LIFE AND FOOD...!
